The History of Kilis Embroidery

Kilis embroidery involves stitching with silk and cotton thread on fabrics such as poplin, calico, Tergal voile, satin, Burmese silk, and silk, using a traditional manual sewing machine. For nearly half a century, this embroidery work has been carried out in almost every Kilis household. The handcrafted products can be found in every young girl’s trousseau, and are sold throughout Turkey, particularly in the large cities.
